Foundation Service Efforts:

The Foundation’s Community Service efforts include Toys for Tots Toy Drives, Community Blood Drives, Salvation Army Bell Ringing, Community Clean-Ups, Thanksgiving Turkey Giveaways, Christmas Gift Giveaways, Heart Walk Participation Fundraiser, Kidney Walk Participation Fundraiser, Suicide Prevention Walk Participation Fundraiser, Voter Registration Drives, Support for Children’s Village and More.

The Foundation’s Community Workshop efforts include Homebuyers Workshops, Financial Literacy Workshops, Economic Development Workshops, Health and Wellness Workshops and More.

The Foundation’s Mentorship Program provides Mentoring to over 300 High School and Middle School Students at 12 Birmingham Area Schools. Each Mentor has been Certified by The Salvation Army in “Safe from Harm“ Training for working with Disadvantaged Youth, At Risk Youth, Mistreated Youth and Misguided Youth. The Mentors provide Positive Leadership by example in order to prepare the Mentees to Serve, Lead and Contribute to their Communities. The Mentors actively engage in responsive interventions that build Student Character, Increase Academic Performance and Provide Positive Behavior Reinforcement. The Mentors are viewed by the Mentees not only as Role Models, but also as a powerful resource of Positive Male Guidance and Influence.

THE BLACK RHINOS OF ALABAMA MENTORING PROGRAM:

A twice-a-month Mentorship Program designed to Shape and Enrich the Lives and Futures of Young Men. The Mentors initiate Discussions, Lessons, Curriculum and Encouragement based on their Background, Life Experiences, Leadership Abilities, Strengths and Successes to Encourage and Support the Mentees quest for Academic and Social Success and Wellbeing.
